The Dunmore – I couldn’t love this spot more. You can see everything from the conchs being cleaned to the conch salad being made. Go mild on the heat, unless you really love spicy food! The dolphin dip is incredible too. Queen Conch – Love their Queen Conch Salad. to your hotel/rental! It sounds like a lot, and I’ll admit, I was like “is all this worth it?” … but it really is! From there you get a taxi cab that’s ten minutes away to the port, then take a 5 minute boat ferry to the government dock on Harbour Island. We flew from Tampa to Miami to North Eleuthera. I usually wake up with the roosters, so it didn’t cause me any less sleep! Roosters are everywhere on the island, but the bamboo house does have plenty of sound proofing. I was drooling the entire time! Every evening after dinner we sat outside on the gorgeous patio, drinking wine and then some hot tea, and it was just heavenly. Communication with Pascale, the owner, was fantastic! Olga even did our laundry one day, which was so unexpected and basically the best present ever to go home with clean clothes (: The Decor of the Bamboo house is amazing. We loved our gardener Dante and housekeeper Olga. It worked out great! I would go back in a heartbeat! A rental is a good way to go there, as you can experience the hotels by dining there, but have more space to spread out in a rental. We went with JB’s parents, and they stayed in the cottage. It has a main house and two cottages, so perfect for traveling with extended family. We loved it! It was a little oasis, and close to everything. We stayed at The Bamboo House right off Dunmore Street. Where we stayed on Harbour Island Bahamas But once you’re there, I think you’ll agree that even though there are planes, trains, automobiles, and boats – it’s worth it. I’ll admit that this all seemed like A LOT. But the island is small, so you’re almost there! Then you’ll need another taxi to your house most likely. We went from Tampa to Miami, then Miami to North Eleuthera airport.įrom there you’ll grab a taxi to the Three Island Dock which will take about 5-10 minutesįrom the Three Island Dock you’ll grab a ferry to Harbour Island Government Dock – which takes about five minutes. I think I may even have a new favorite beach! How to get to Harbour Island I’m glad to say that it 100% lives up to the hype! We loved the natural beauty there, the people. I had seen lots of people go, and it seemed like everyone loved it. Both JB and I did A LOT of research about his 40th birthday trip, and finally settled on Harbour Island Bahamas. The original idea was to create a Nordic Pavilion that would combine elements from various countries into one exhibit. It soft-opened on May 6, 1988, but the grand opening did not occur until a month later, when Harald V of Norway (then Crown Prince) dedicated the pavilion in a ceremony that was broadcast live to Norway. The Norway Pavilion is the most recent nation to be added to World Showcase. Formerly a children's play area, the structure was removed in December 2008. One former exhibit was a full-scale Viking ship, inspired by the famous Oseberg ship. The courtyard contains the entrance to Restaurant Akershus, featuring a hot and cold buffet and "Princess Storybook Dining." Kringla Bakeri og Kafé is a bakery, featuring assorted Norwegian pastries, such as cream horns and open-faced salmon sandwiches. The courtyard of the pavilion contains the entrance to Frozen Ever After. These shops are decorated with large wooden trolls and sell assorted Norwegian goods, including clothing, candy, and statuettes of Norse gods and trolls. Much of the pavilion is taken up by interconnected shops. The exhibit showcases 4 styles of Norwegian architecture: Setesdal-style, Bergen-style, Oslo-style and Ålesund-style. The village includes a detailed reproduction Stave church, with a statue of Olaf II Haraldsson out front, and the exterior of its main table-service restaurant, Restaurant Akershus, resembles its namesake in Oslo. The 58,000-square-foot (5,400 m 2) Norway Pavilion is designed to look like a Norwegian village. Its location is between the Mexico and China pavilions. The Norway Pavilion is a Norwegian-themed pavilion that is part of the World Showcase, within Epcot at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida, United States. William Shakespeare uses the expression "alack the day" in his tragedy Romeo and Juliet: "He's dead, he's dead, he's dead! / We are undone, lady, we are undone! / Alack the day! He's gone, he's kill'd, he's dead!," reports the Nurse to Juliet. Quite possibly, it could have been influenced by 17th-century lackaday, which is a shortening of the term alackaday-from the expression "alack the day" ( alack itself being an interjection used to express sorrow or regret, so the expression roughly means "a day of sorrow or regret"). The dazy/day/daisy element is where we have to lean on hypothesis. And it seems probable that the whoops and oops forms developed from dialect pronunciation or misinterpretation of up. The formations with the adverb up are straightforward since the expression originated in the act of raising or lifting up. "A man who sold bootlaces in Sheffield was called 'Opsi-daisy.' A drunken man, being found by his wife lying on his back in a gutter, was thus addressed by her: 'Eh!-art tha lookin' for daisies upards?'"Īlthough the exclamations seem nonsensical, there is lexical logic behind their origins. UPSI-DAISY, an interjectional remark addressed to children when they fall down. The hyphenated form upsi-daisy was defined in a 1888 glossary of words "used in the neighbourhood of Sheffield" thusly: Other 18th-century writers began to transcribe it as up-a-daisy, and subsequent writers played around with phonetic spellings, including upsa daesy in the 19th century as well as the hyphenated and closed spelling upsidaisy. The variants with oops and whoops are believed to have led to those words becoming standard interjections in their own right.Īn early written record of the exclamation is in the form up a-dazy in English satirist Jonathan Swift's 1711 Journal to Stella.Ĭome, stand away, let me rise: Patrick take away the candle. The source word is 18th-century up-a-daisy, itself from dialectal upaday. John McCright, The Addison County (Vermont) Independent, 19 July 2018 Upsy daisy! I lifted it out and away from the curious nose of the dog…. This gave me the opportunity to lean my torso inside the door and grab the hen by the leg. It was scared of me and stuck its head between the waterer and the wall. I got a hen down and literally raked it toward the door. Upsa-daisy," he said as he lifted her to her feet and steadied her with his hands on her waist. Some examples are upsidaisy, upsa daesy, upsie-daisy, oops-a-daisy, oopsy-daisy, hoops-a-daisy, and whoops-a-daisy. The up, oops, and whoops variants (with or without a middle "a" and with either a "-y" or "-ie") are all found in print. And then once the utterance has been decided upon, there's of course the issue regarding spelling it in hyphenated, closed, or open form. 2016Īs with many such exclamations that are more often used in speech than print, people often tend to hear and say it differently, making it problematically interesting to put in writing. Jessica Rach and Julia Pritchard, The Daily Mail (UK), 4 Sept. Whoopsie daisy: Making an extravagant entrance the star seemed to almost trip as he stepped onto the deck, possibly causing the subsequent hilarity. Their cutesy pronunciations usually distract just enough to prevent an emotional breakdown, and although typical usage of these terms is with children, they do apply to adult mishaps as well. Not to mention the classic 'whoopsie-doodle.'Īll of these are used to give reassurance or to give acknowledgment that something out of the ordinary is about to happen (like being lifted high into the air after said fall or stumble). So, for those times when you don’t have a lot of time or money, it can come in handy.īut that isn’t all. They were working with an incredibly aggressive timeline, and somehow, I had to find a way to deliver on my promise – which was CD artwork and CD replication.Īnyway, what makes Landr attractive to the average musician is that the AI-mastering service is quick and affordable. I’ve personally worked with artists who underestimated the amount of time it would require to take their album from pre-production to finished product. This is the part that can be a little hard to swallow as an artist, especially if you’re on a tight deadline and budget. Mastering generally takes time and costs money. At the Basic level, you’ll also pay $4.99 per HI-MP3. What you should also know is that if you subscribe at the Pro level, you can master as many LO-MP3, HI-MP3, WAV, and HD WAV tracks as you want.īut at the Advanced level, you will pay $6.99 per WAV and $17.99 per HD WAV. The price of subscription varies based on which package you choose, as well as whether you opt for monthly or yearly subscriptions. Landr has three packages – Basic, Advanced, and Pro. Some artists even rely on it for their mastering needs exclusively, because of how effective it is in terms of efficiency and cost.īefore we move on, I’ll answer a couple of questions I brought up, and then we’ll go deeper into Landr’s mastering service. If you need to get your tracks up by tomorrow, for examle (try not to do that to yourself), you might still be able to fulfill on your aggressive deadline.īut that’s not all Landr is for. In a pinch, AI mastering can be a huge help. but it’s true that you might be short on cash by the time you’ve gone through pre-production, tracking, and mixing. Now, I’ve never found mastering overly expensive (somewhere in the range of $50 to $150 per track is common, even if you hire an experienced pro). Further, Landr mastering is more affordable compared to professional mastering. Because the mastering is handled by AI, the process is incredibly fast. This is exactly what Landr is – an AI mastering tool. Because of the internet, you’ve got access to practically every mastering engineer, across the world, right at our fingertips.īut if that wasn’t enough, you can also take advantage of AI solutions. Today, there are more ways to get your music mastered than ever. So, many musicians know that mastering is important, but don’t know why it’s important, which is why it can easily be consigned to afterthought. But mastering tends to be a bit of a mystery.įurther, most musicians know their music should be mastered, although sometimes forget to budget for it and end up running around like headless chickens when the music they’re working on is fully tracked and mixed. They understand pre-production, tracking, and to an extent, even mixing. Mastering is kind of an abstract process, especially to musicians. Have you ever wanted your music mastered by Artificial Intelligence (AI)? The answer to that question, for most, will probably be, “I’m not sure.” Putting Landr To The Test – Here’s What Happened When I Mastered A Track With Landr. According to Virgil, Somnus was the brother of Death ( Mors ), 2 and according to Ovid, Somnus had a 'thousand' sons, 3 the Somnia ('dream shapes'), who appear in dreams 'mimicking many forms'. While it took Morpheus great effort to make the entirety of Manhattan fall asleep after receiving help from Hecate, Hypnos has been known to use his power on far more powerful beings, such as Zeus.įlight: Even though all gods are able to levitate, Hypnos possesses wings that allow him to fly. Hypnos is the God of Sleep, which he induces with purest opium smoked through a horn. In Roman mythology, Somnus ('sleep') is the personification of sleep. His signature power is one that allows him to induce sleep, visions, and even manipulate dreams in a similar way as his son Morpheus, but to a much more powerful degree. His mother was Nyx (night) and his father was Erebus (darkness). Hypnokinesis: As the god of sleep, Hypnos has divine authority over sleep. Sculpted by an unknown artist, this bust of Hypnos (above) was curatorially acquired from The Netherlands. In Greek mythology, Hypnos is the god associated with sleep. Fortunately, he has recently found a better use for his. He could also be the god of comas and dangerous addictions, for he works with his deadly brother Thanatos, the God of Death, for Hades Underworld Operations Inc. When a new god is created, the older god loses an equal amount of power so only minor gods can be created. Hypnos represented sleep, serving as a calm and gentle god that mortals throughout Greece owed half their lives. Hypnos is the God of Sleep, which he induces with purest opium smoked through a horn. Power Bestowal: Gods are able to impart their power onto others to create new gods. For Hypnos, he is able to be present anywhere sleep is occurring. Omnipresence: Greek gods are able to exist anywhere wherever their domain is being invoked, even if this means that they must be presence in multiple places at once.Hypnos has been known to transform into a small bird. Additionally, gods are able to make themselves look like other people and animals. He lived in a cave next to his twin brother, Thanatos, in the underworld. Shapeshifting: All gods are able to manipulate their form, including the age at which they appear to be. Hypnos was a primordial deity in Greek mythology, the personification of sleep.Immortality:Like all gods, Hypnos has an infinite lifespan.Power Tapping: Hypnos, like all gods, draws power from his sphere of control. To interact with mortals, the gods take on a lesser form which can be safely observed. Divine Form: Like all other immortal beings, Hypnos is likely able to enter his natural, fully empowered form which is radiant with divine light so intense that no being less than a god can look upon it without disintegrating to ashes.but I would not come too close to Zeus, the son of Kronos, nor put him to sleep, unless he himself were to tell me. Greek God: As a Greek god, Hypnos possesses a variety of powers and abilities that all Greek gods share. Then Hypnos the still and soft spoke to her in answer : ‘Hera, honoured goddess and daughter of mighty Kronos (Cronus), any other one of the gods, whose race is immortal, I would lightly put to sleep. Despite being a minor god and very lazy, Hypnos seems to be much more powerful that his status and antics leads others to believe he really is, likely because he is the child of Nyx, a primordial goddess. “I don’t know if he’s made a play like that in quite some time,” Roberts said, laughing. He extricated himself by hustling to catch a bunt popped up by Estrada near the third-base line that ended the inning. The Eagles didn't score on their ensuing possession, but the turnover confirmed the momentum belonged solely to the home team.Lynn got into a bases-loaded, two-outs jam in the third, sandwiching walks to Mike Yastrzemski and Pederson around a single to Wilmer Flores. But then, on the next play, with a free rusher coming right up the gut, Jones threw an ill-advised quick strike across the middle, and former teammate James Bradberry easily picked it. Trailing 14-0 on their second series, they still appeared to have life, with Daniel Jones hitting Matt Breida for 19. New York went bold on its own first drive, turning it over on downs after going for it near midfield. The Eagles went up two scores in a hurry, with Jalen Hurts finding both Smith and Goedert on back-to-back TD series out of the gate. But they were outplayed, outcoached and overmatched in every phase in Philly. All hope is not lost in New York Daboll has this team on the right trajectory. It didn't help that Jones had precious few clean pockets, or open receivers, and forced an early throw that sealed a two-score deficit early. Martindale, meanwhile, saw his "D" play soft and conservative for the second straight week, and unlike the Vikings, the Eagles refused to let up on the ground. Daboll deserves props for the way he rejuvenated Daniel Jones this season, but his situational decision-making left a bit to be desired that was never more apparent than on fourth downs, as he elected to go for a fourth-and-long early but punted away near midfield when trailing by 21. Why the Giants lostīoth Brian Daboll and Wink Martindale failed to elevate a roster that was already at least a year ahead of schedule in terms of competing. And Brett Kern did his part to pin New York deep on the Eagles' few punts of the night. Ex-Giants star James Bradberry read Jones like a book on an early pick. On "D," sack artist Haason Reddick was busy again, easily outdoing Andrew Thomas to keep Daniel Jones under fire. Sanders was consistently fluid in space, and Kenneth Gainwell delivered one tough carry after another down the stretch as Philly piled up well over 250 yards rushing. Despite a conservative approach in Week 18 while recovering from his shoulder injury, Hurts was fully rejuvenated, feeding DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert with ease, and perhaps more notably using his legs to aid a dominant ground game. In other words, the Eagles looked like the peak version of themselves from their 2022 campaign. Jalen Hurts was back in full MVP-caliber form, Miles Sanders had open lanes all night, and Jonathan Gannon's entire defense made it look easy getting after Daniel Jones up front. Here are some additional takeaways from the blowout: Why the Eagles won They will host the Dallas Cowboys or San Francisco 49ers next Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field at 3 p.m. The Eagles (15-3) just milked the clock from there and advanced to the NFC Championship Game. Hurts had a rushing touchdown to cap off the dominant first half. Scott has 19 career touchdowns, living up to his "Giant Killer" reputation. Philadelphia had a 14-0 lead at that point in the game.īoston Scott scored a touchdown for the Eagles in the second quarter to put them up 21-0, his 11th touchdown in nine career games against the Giants. James Bradberry had the interception on the Giants' second possession, the first by an Eagles cornerback since Week 9. The defense also took over the game early as Haason Reddick had 1.5 sacks for the Eagles in the first half, both coming on consecutive plays to stop the Giants from moving down the field on their first drive. Hurts finished 16 of 24 for 254 yards with two touchdowns (112.2 rating) and had nine carries for 34 yards and a touchdown - all in a first half in which the Eagles took a 28-0 lead and cruised to victory. The Eagles are heading to their seventh NFC Championship Game since the start of the 2001 season, and their second in five years. Hurts became just the second Eagles player with two pass touchdowns and one rush touchdown in a playoff game, joining Donovan McNabb on that exclusive list as the Eagles cruised to a 38-7 victory over the New York Giants in a playoff matchup that was never close.
